Beach Week

Ron and I are enjoying a week at Myrtle Beach. Our goals for the week are sun, sand, golf and to eat our weight in seafood. We arrived on Sunday and had dinner at our favorite seafood place in Calabash. Monday found us walking the beach and we went to a condo presentation, we aren't buying but wanted the free show tickets they were offering. Last night we had dinner at Greg Norman's Australian Grille. There was one waiter whose entire job was keeping water glasses filled. A water waiter!! The menu was a little pricey but the food was delish! This morning we found a coupon for that restaurant for buy one entree get one free. Doesn't that just about figure? We may have to go back again! Today Ron golfed and I spent a few hours on the beach. The sunshine was heavenly! Tonight we returned to our favorite Calabash restaurant. Did I mention eating our weight in seafood?? We are well on our way. I haven't taken any pictures...that is strange for me. I miss my two angels!

Busy Week

It has been kind of a busy week around here. We got estimates for a security system for the house and an awning for the deck. The refrigerator repair guy will be here tomorrow - thank heavens! Now we won't have to listen to the high pitched whine at all hours of the day and night. Sarah and Katie were here overnight on Thursday. It was Sarah's first sleepover! She did fine. She is still feeling a little under the weather from her croup but it didn't seem to slow her down much. Here are a few pictures from this month.
We had a nice sunny afternoon on the deck. The sun was so bright that Sarah wouldn't look up at me. She really enjoys her vintage toys. That bike was Uncle Eric's!

Here she is playing with her Mom's dollhouse:

Katie had photos done at her dance school. We can't wait for the recital in May!

A Long Night

Poor Sarah. She woke up at midnight last night, barking like a dog. She seemed to be having a real hard time breathing and scared her parents enough that they hauled her off to the emergency room. They gave her a shot of steroids and did an x-ray of her larynx, told them it was croup and sent her home. She is much better tonight, still coughing - but coughing is good, barking is bad. When Eric was a wee one he had croup. We called our doctor in the middle of the night and he prescribed whiskey - a teaspoon for Eric and a shot for each of his parents. It worked for all three of us. Sarah got a shot of steroids, but I'll just bet that given the choice she and her parents would have chosen the whiskey!

Meet our future daughter-in-law

Her name is Nicole. She is a nurse at the Cleveland Clinic. We like her a LOT! They got engaged last weekend and no wedding date is set yet - probably this summer sometime.

Oh My

I have been spending way too much time on Facebook and neglecting my blog. We do have some family news I'm going to post later today, so check back! I also have a recipe to share with you.

Grandma's Angels

Meghan and I took the girls for their annual studio photos last weekend. Here are some of the results:

I found these red coats on E-bay. We think the hat makes Sarah look Amish!

Of course, this is my favorite!

Obsession!

Steeler obsession - WOW! I've always been a Steeler fan and even 36 years in Redskin country didn't sway me. We would often go to a sports bar to watch the Steeler game when it wasn't being broadcast in our area. I thought Redskin fans were obsessed but they don't even come close to the Steeler fans up here. Everywhere we go, there are banners and signs, people are wearing their Steeler gear, flags are flying on vehicles and buildings, store employees are decked out in black and gold. It is awesome and we are having so much fun being a part of it this time.
Our family room is officially Steeler Country. We've got a huge banner, a flag, a clock and terrible towels. We are having a Superbowl party here on Sunday at 5:00 and you are invited to come watch it with us on the big screen
.
Here we go Steelers, here we go!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

She's a wife, a fabulous mother, a daughter, a sister, a musician, a scrapbooker, a fun person to be around and she's my baby. How could she possibly be 30 already?
Happy Birthday Muffin!

Catching Up

I will be the first to admit that I've been horrible lately at keeping this blog updated. We have had a busy month so far. Ron and I escaped the cold weather and snow for a week in Orlando. We enjoyed our Disney Vacation Club and time in the parks, but it didn't seem the same after being there with the grandkids. Some of my cousins, who live in the Orlando area, joined us for a day.
Since our return, it has been snowing and very cold so we haven't been out much except to shovel the driveway and sidewalk. That is one of the pleasures of being retired, though. If the weather is bad, we get to stay home!
We are VERY excited that the Steelers are going to the Superbowl!

Here are a few photos from Holiday 2008. Enjoy!
Katie loved the set of Disney Princesses she got from Uncle Eric.
PapPap's lap, a good book and a banana - what could be better?

Katie got this bed for her American Girl doll. Sarah threw the doll on the floor and used the bed as a seat!

Katie yelled at her, Sarah thought it was VERY funny. Already little sis has learned what buttons to push!
